The 7th Women’s Baseball World Cup reached the half way point in the Super Round Robin and the Consolation Round on Thursday. In the Super Round Robin Japan and Canada remain on collision course for the Gold Medal Game. Canada beat Venezuela 8-1, while Japan shut out Chinese Taipei 10-0. Australia celebrated a 13-0 blowout against host Korea.
In the Consolation Round Cuba and Hong Kong each won by a score of 12-1 against India respective Pakistan. Meanwhile the Dutch team lost 0-10 to the United States, which is actually a respectable result after the US squad had pummeled Pakistan 34-0 one day before. The Netherlands managed just one hit by Esther Maliepaard against one of the best pitchers in Women’s Baseball Marti Sementelli.
