The promoted Italian Baseball League club REGGIO EMILIA announced the signing of right-handed pitcher William Juarez. The 27-year-old Nicaragua native was signed as an undrafted amateur free agent by the ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS organization in 2000 and made his professional debut in the Dominican Summer League that summer. In January 2005 he was traded alongside Danny Muegge, Beltran Perez and Dioner Navarro to the LOS ANGELES DODGERS in exchange for Shawn Green.
Between the two organizations, Juarez played in a total of 129 games (97 starts) until 2007 as high as Triple-A. He had an ERA of 4.04 with 459 strikeouts (220 walks) in 591 innings. He also pitched for his home country at the IBAF Baseball World Cup in 2003. In 2008 he played in six games in the Mexican League, posting an ERA of 7.71 in 11 2/3 innings.
