The German Baseball-Bundesliga will see a major improvement public relation wise this season. All teams are required to use Gamechanger applications to score all regular season and postseason games in real-time. With leagues in Italy, Netherlands and Spain (Czech Republic in 2013) using CEB/IBAF style live scoring software, the German Baseball and Softball Federation (DBV) choose a different path and will use these free applications which currently however only work on tablets and smartphones operated by iOS or Android.
Probably all baseball fans in Europe already have used it, as several clubs tried these apps in the last couple of years. But the Baseball-Bundesliga is going to be the first to do it officially. Looking to International Baseball, USA Baseball opted last fall to sign a two-year contract with Gamechanger and will use the software in future tournaments.
Additionally the German Baseball-Bundesliga is going to have a new website. After publishing results, standings, stats and game reports on www.baseball-softball.de and www.baseball-deutschland.de in the last couple of years, there is now an exclusive website dedicated for the Baseball-Bundesliga at www.baseball-bundesliga.de. Gamechanger data is included nicely and we should get a first look of live play by play of German Baseball next weekend when the new season starts.
