The United States have captured the trophy at the WBSC U18 Baseball World Cup in Thunder Bay, Canada. They shut out Korea 8-0 in the Gold Medal Game on Sunday in front of a sellout crowd at Port Arthur Stadium. It’s the fourth consecutive title for Team USA at U18 Baseball World Cups. They also won this year’s WBSC U12 Baseball World Cup in Tainan, Taiwan earlier this summer.
In the final on Sunday three runs in the third and four in the fourth decided the outcome quickly. Tournament MVP Tristan Casas hit a towering home run, a double and three RBI to lead the way. Matt Liberatore and three relievers combined to keep Korea to four hits and three walks through nine scoreless innings.
