Last weekend Brno was the capital of European youth baseball, as the baseball club Hrosi Brno organized the biggest European indoor baseball tournament, the 10th annual Z-Cup. The Tournament is organized for juveniles players and 24 teams from Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria and Lithuania arrived at Pavilon Z in Brno Trade Fair facility.
Fiftyeight games were played on Friday, a tournament for schools from Brno and surrounding, followed by the main tournament for juvenile teams on the weekend. Teams were divided into eight groups and all teams also played their playoff games and games for final standings.
Winner of the tournament became team Vilnius I which defeated Eagles Praha I. In the game for third place Technika Brno won against Cesky Dub Mariners. Except team awards, also individual awards wwere delivered. The most valuable player was David Zilionis from winning team Vilnius I, best batter Jan Polreich from Eagles Praha I. And finally the winner of the homerun base run competition became team Technika Brno I.
