Venezuelan Catcher and Shortstop join CB Viladecans

Right in time for the Catalonian Championship, which started this weekend, and about four weeks before the Division de Honor opener, CB VILADECANS signed two Venezuelan players, who already got experience in Spain. They bring back catcher Rotsen Gil, who played for the team in 2007. New shortstop will be Oscar Angulo (last year EL LLANO).

Gil is 24 years old and a former Minor Leaguer for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He signed with the Major League organization in 2000 and batted .263 (OBP .289/SLG .482) in 48 games in 2004 and 2005 for their Rookie and Triple-A league affiliates. In 2007 he batted .358 for VILADECANS.

Angulo celebrated his 25th birthday on February 1st. He is also a former Minor Leaguer. He spent one season (2004) with the Arizona League affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, batting .277 (OBP .294/SLG .361) in 26 games. In 2008 he played for EL LLANO and finished the year with a .295 batting average (OBP .348/SLG .349) with 27 runs scored and 18 RBI in 32 games.
