The Dutch Hoofdklasse continued on Thursday evening with four games. L&D Amsterdam erased an early 0-2 deficit to beat HCAW Bussum 6-2. Three runs on doubles by Nick Urbanus and Kenny Berkenbosch turned the game around in the fourth. Dennis Burgersdijk pitched 5 1/3 innings for the win. Sander Helmendach took the loss.
Mampaey The Hawks scored all four runs of a 4-3 win over DSS in the top of the sixth. DSS then put two runners on in the bottom of the ninth with no outs, but a picked off player, a groundout and a flyout ended the contest. Michel Opferman pitched 4 1/3 innings of no-hit, one-walk relief for the win. Jorn van Ingen got charged with the loss.
The surprise of the game day was a lopsided 10-2 win by UVV over the Vaessen Pioniers in Hoofddorp. Five runs in the top of the sixth decided the outcome. Dennis De Quindt led the way by going 4-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. Dennis Ribbens had three hits and two RBI. Danny Rombley drove in both runs for the Pioniers.
At Family Stadium in Rotterdam Curacao Neptunus lost 4-6 to Corendon Kinheim. Kinheim started the game with five runs and then fought off a ninth-inning rally, which saw Rotterdam putting three runs on the board on a Gianison Boekhoudt home run. Phil Ortez had two RBI for Corendon. Tom Stuifbergen pitched seven innings of seven-hit, one-run ball for the win. Diegomar Markwell took the loss.
