Team USA and Japan celebrated victories against Taiwan and Korea on Saturday and will meet on Sunday in the final at the World University Baseball Championship in the Czech Republic.
The fascinating prospect Stephen Strasburg struck out nine in seven innings to lead Team USA to a 3-0 shutout against Taiwan. Blake Smith, Micah Gibbs and Matt Den Decker had RBIs. It was their 23 straight win this summer for the collegiate team of USA baseball.
They are facing Japan, which beat Korea 6-1 in the evening game. Takuya Tsukuura drove in two. Hiroko Uemoto scored twice. Yuki Saito went the distance striking out eight in the win.
