by Alper Bozkurt
The Turkish Baseball Academy was assigned by Avsar Film, one of the biggest movie studios in Turkey, to play in a Baseball Scene during the production of “The Osman Empire” starring Ata Demirer. The fictional comedy is based on Ataturk (the founder of the Turkish republic) never being born and the Gallipoli war being lost in the early 1920s. The Americans took over Turkey and the Osman Emperor is a prisoner in his own castle. The movie sets at our current date. In our specific scene, an American cournel is pitching to an osman represenatative. In the background the Turkish Baseball Academy is having practice. The movie will hit the Turkish cinemas in the fall.
