North:
Cologne Cardinals – Paderborn Untouchables 1-12, 1-5
The UNTOUCHABLES stay in the hunt for the lead in the northern conference of the Bundesliga. They swept the doubleheader in Cologne 12-1 and 5-1. They now have a 10-2 record. The CARDINALS had Mo Sckaer on the mound for the first time this season after his stint in the US. However he lost the duel against Eugen Heilmann. In the second game both teams lost coaches due to ejections after arguing with the umpires. But the guests had the better end.
Bonn Capitals – HSV Stealers 8-6, 11-10
The CAPITALS won two close games against the STEALERS. Lennart Weller had the decisive hit with a two-run single in the bottom of the sixth in the first game, which led to an 8-6 victory. In the second part of the doubleheader, BONN came back several times and rallied for four runs in the bottom of the eighth to win 11-10. The two 17-year-old pitchers Marcel Penger and Rene Wolf earned the wins. Marcel Brede lost both games.
Solingen Alligators – Hannover Regents 16-3, 8-0
The ALLIGATORS extended their winning streak to start the season to 13 games. They crushed HANOVER 16-3 in the first part of the doubleheader and celebrated an 8-0 shutout in the second. Andre Hughes and Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez both stayed undefeated. Sean Bakuniec and Mike Lantzy both their third match of the year. Kai Gronauer, who is still in Germany had a share of RBI doubles in the first match and delivered a homerun in the second for SOLINGEN.
Neunkirchen Nightmares – Dortmund Wanderers 0-13, 9-8
South:
Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg – Neuenburg Atomics 8-0, 10-0
The 11-1 LEGIONAERE celebrated two shutouts against the underdogs ATOMICS. Martin Almstetter and Jonathan Eisenhuth combined for a one-hitter in the first game. Craig Crow struck out ten in the second match, winning against Alex Aucoin. The two wins may have a bitter end for REGENSBURG, as Alex Lauterbach was hit by a ball on his elbow and could miss some time.
Saarlouis Hornets – Mainz Athletics 2-12, 4-5
The ATHLETICS took a big step into direction playoffs. They won both games in Saarlouis. They used a nine-run first to get a 12-2 victory in the first match. MAINZ took a 5-1 lead after seven innings in the second part of the DH and hold off a late rally by the HORNETS. Salvatore Messina (10 K’s in game two, loss) and Seth Nowakowski made their debuts for SAARLOUIS.
The match-ups MANNHEIM in GAUTING and HEIDENHEIM in HAAR were postponed due to rain.
