Euro League Baseball (ELB) is very proud to announce that it entered into a partnership agreement with child rights defender Terre de Hommes (TdH). Euro League Baseball aims to grow the level and popularity of Baseball in Europe and regards affordable family entertainment and youth programs as the main resources to achieve these goals. “While baseball is our game and passion, we truly believe it’s very important to keep reminding our fans, visitors and participants, how privileged we are to be able to visit and/or join sports events like Euro League Baseball” says Wim van den Hurk, president of Euro League Baseball.
Euro League Baseball will organize fundraising activities on gamedays , during clinics and other events. The Terre des Hommes logo will be visible on the sleeves of the game jerseys of all ELB teams. In addition its star players will actively campaign for Terre des Hommes projects.
“We’re excited about the opportunities and the progressive approach of Euro League Baseball and its goal to built a sustainable professional baseball league, we’re looking forward to a long term collaboration”says Albert Jaap van Santbrink, Director of Terre des Hommes the Netherlands.
I’d love to know MLB’s opinion of all this. Considering the investment they make in the ABL, they must at least have considered playing a role in a European league. Having a minority stake in the ELB would have a far more lasting impact in advancing the sport than a couple games in London ever will.
