The French Elite League club Templiers Senart has signed Cesar Quintero to become the new shortstop for the upcoming season. The 27-year-old succeeds Andrew Smith. Quintero was born in Puerto Cabello, Venezuela and played in the Houston Astros organization between 2005 and 2008. He reached the High-A level and batted a combined .259 (OBP .307/SLG .394) with 21 homeruns, 150 runs and 122 RBI in 264 games.
After his release Quintero returned to his home country and donned the jersey of Leones del Caracas in the most recent Venezuelan Winter League season. He even made the roster for the 2010 Caribbean Series on Margarita Island, hitting a homerun against Leones del Escogido on the final day of the tournament. He is going to be the fifth Venezuelan to play for the Templiers Senart after Erick Perez, Luis Rodriguez, Daniel Aray and Luis Aponte, his new teammate.
