Taiwan with 10-0 shutout in final warmup

Team Taiwan finished their exhibition schedule against Chinese Professional Baseball League Clubs on a positive note. They celebrated a 10-0 shutout against the Sinon Bulls on Monday.

Jien-Fu YANG, who is expected to start Friday’s opener versus Spain, impressed with three two-hit innings against his normal teammates from Sinon. The bullpen, led by Chih-Ja CHANG (2 IP, 0 H), allowed three hits in the following six frames to complete the game.

Chinese Taipei took a 2-0 lead in the top of the fist on a RBI-groundout by Tai-Shan CHANG and a RBI-single by Yi-Chuan LIN. They added three more in the fourth on two singles, a double and an error by the Bulls outfield. Chih-Yao TSANG’s RBI-triple made it 6-0. Back-to-back two-run-doubles in the eighth concluded the slugfest for the Taiwanese offense.

After losing the first two matches of their warmup series they won the last four to finish preparations for the Final Olympic Qualifying tournament. They hope that their home field advantage will lead them to a top three finish to clinch a trip to Beijing in August.
