Taiwan and South Korea with victories in exhibitions
Chinese Taipei and South Korea, which are currently playing against Chinese Professional Baseball League Teams, earned victories.
Taiwan stretched their winning streak to three games with a 2-1 win versus the La New Bears. Starter Jien-Ming JIANG gave up a run in the top of the first on a wild pitch. However the pitching staff blanked the Bears afterwards. JIANG threw five innings, giving up at least one hit in four of them. The relievers Keh-Chien LIN, Chui-Guan LEE and Jung-Chung HUANG combined for four shutout innings to finish the game.
The offense overcame the deficit in the fourth through sac flies by Yen-Wen KUO and Jung-Chang YEH. Tai-Chan CHANG and Chih-Sheng LIN each had two hits. The other batters struggled as only two more got hits.
South Korea defeated dmedia T-Rex by a score of 3-1. They scored three runs on four hits through the first three periods to take the lead. Dmedia’s batters were 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position. They got their only run in the eighth through a RBI-double.
Both Olympic Qualifier participants are playing each another warmup, before opening of the tournament on Friday this week.
