Still nine days till opening day in Italy

With the opening game between MONTEPASCHI GROSSETO and RANGERS REDIPUGLIA sill nine days away, the preseason in Italy continued.

GROSSETO beat FORTITUDO BOLOGNA 7-4 and 4-3. Jorge Nunez with a triple and Jairo Ramos with a homerun set the highlights offensive wise for the 2007 champion. Lincoln Mikkelsen and Junior Oberto started. Chris Cooper made his debut for MONTEPASCHI. Cody Cillo and Fabio Betto were the starter for BOLOGNA. Jesus Matos threw two frames, Chris George three.

NETTUNO and CARIPARMA (6-1, 1-2) split a doubleheader last weekend. Already up 1-0, DANESI managed eight hits, including three triples and two doubles, in one inning to blow the game open in the first one. The combination of Carlos Richetti, Fabio Mariani and Massimiliano Masin allowed just three hits of PARMA in the game. Michael Jared Natale was the dominating player in the second game with seven strikeouts in three innings. Vicente Garcia Bellizzi had four hits in four at bats at the plate, including a double.

After playing two against GODO on Saturday (results unknown), RIMINI crushed SAN MARINO 10-0 on Sunday. Starter Michele Quattrini allowed three hits and a walk in four scoreless innings. Jack Santora was two for three with a double. Clinton Balgera and Claudio Signorini each had three hits. Luigi Carrozza hit a homerun. Matteo Tonellato started for SAN MARINO.
