Stealers, Cardinals, Tornados part ways with Foreign Pitchers

Mannheim Tornados

Following last weekend’s doubleheader against the Gauting Indians in the German Baseball-Bundesliga the Mannheim Tornados revealed that they have parted ways with Texan hurler Cory Stevens. He had a 3-6 record with an ERA of 8.68 and WHIP of 2.23 in ten starts. He struck out 58 batters in 57 innings, but also walked 64. Philipp Hoehlein replaced him as game-two starter on Saturday and allowed just two hits, an unearned run and three bb in seven innings, out-dueling Kyle Kearcher.

Cologne Cardinals

The Cologne Cardinals already have brought in their third foreign pitcher this season. John Robert Bonifacini issued four hits, eight runs (5 ER) and eight walks in 4 1/3 innings during the make-up game against the Dohren Wild Farmers last Saturday, only a few hours after arriving from the US. Kevin Brunet (1-4, ERA 3.86, 42 IP, 20 SO, 7 BB) and David Kennedy (1-3, ERA 7.89, 21.2 IP, 11 SO, 12 BB) had pitched in each week’s game two for Cologne before.

HSV Stealers

The HSV Stealers have to play the remaining games in the regular season of the German Baseball-Bundesliga without Canadian hurler Corey Parsons. He decided to return back to his home country and left before the doubleheader against the Solingen Alligators. He had a 3-3 record with an ERA of 3.77 in six starts this season. He struck out 29 in 43 innings, while walking 15. Regular catcher Patrick Maat started in his place in game two against the Alligators and surrendered ten hits, eight runs (6 ER) and six walks in six innings.
