Spanish national team left-hander Ricardo Hernandez has signed with the Dutch Hoofdklasse club Vaessen Pioniers. The 25-year-old, who was born in Caracas, Venezuela, has been playing in Europe since the 2011 season. In 2011 and 2013 he played for CB Barcelona in the Spanish Division de Honor. In 2012 he was a member of Danesi Nettuno in the Italian Baseball League. Now he will try his luck in the Netherlands. The former Minor Leaguer with the Florida Marlins is currently pitching in the Venezuelan Winter League for Navegantes del Magallanes. For Barcelona he went 11-3 with an ERA of 1.13 in 15 starts. He struck out 150 in 111 1/3 innings, walking 37.
