After losing a close game against Germany, the Spanish team decided a nail biter into their favour on Sunday. They defeated South Africa 2-1 and celebrated their first victory of the tournament.
The African representative, who is doing much better than last November, got off to a hot start, scoring the first run of the game in the first frame. However Spain wasn’t shocked as they tied the game right away. They came around and scored the winning run in the fifth. Daniel SANCHEZ and Daniel FIGUEROA got the RBI.
Besides a few offensive highlights the game featured an old-fashioned pitcher’s duel. Remigio LEAL received the win
Barry ARMITAGE pitched a complete game, giving up two runs on five hits, striking out six.
