South Korea wins Asian duel

South Korea defeated Taiwan on Friday to clinch second place in the Final Olympic Qualifying Tournament. It was their sixth victory in the seventh match.
Chinese Taipei jumped out early and scored two runs in the bottom of the first to take a fast 2-0 lead. But their Asian rivals answered right away, scoring four unanswered runs in the next two periods. Taiwan cut the deficit to a run in the fifth, but failed to tie the contest afterwards.
Seung Youp LEE and Taek Keun LEE each had two hits for South Korea.
Chieh-Ming CHANG scored two runs for Taiwan.
Kwang Hyun KIM (W 2-0) allowed five hits, two runs (1 ER) and three walks in five innings, striking out six. Tae Hyon CHONG got the save.
Cheng-Chang LEE (L 0-1) was charged with four hits, four runs (2 ER) and a base on balls in 2 1/3 innings.
