The Korea Baseball Organisation (KBO) announced a 28-man roster for the 2017 World Baseball Classic on Thursday. Manager In-Sik Kim and KBO trimmed down the list from previous 50 players to the necessary 28. Changes however are still possible.
The roster includes MLB players Jung-Ho Kang (Pittsburgh Pirates), Shin-Soo Choo (Texas Rangers) and Hyun-Soo Kim (Baltimore Orioles) and free agent Dae-Ho Lee, who played for the Seattle Mariners this year. Closer Seung-Hwan Oh of the St. Louis Cardinals is not on the team. Oh has been suspended in KBO after getting charged for illegal gambling in South Korea. South Korea is opening training camp in Okinawa, Japan on February 12. They are facing Israel, the Netherlands and Chinese Taipei during first-round play at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul starting on March 6, 2017.
