South Africa earns spot at Olympic Qualifier

As expected the South African team won the African championship last weekend and earned a spot at the Olympic qualifier next spring. The mini-tournament was hindered by bad weather conditions, although the favourites won easily. Detroit Tigers center fielder Curtis GRANDERSON attended the games as a special guest. The Netherlands are the only Europeans who will participate in the Olympics at the moment. The Spanish and the British national teams are going to have a last chance next spring at a qualifier in Taiwan. Besides South Africa, their opponents will be Australia, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Korea and Mexico.
