The Solingen Alligators are German Baseball Champions 2014. The team of head coach Norman Eberhardt defeated the Heidenheim Heidekoepfe 3-1 in the best-of-five German finals. They clinched their second title after 2006 with a pair of 2-1 wins on the road.
On Saturday Harry Glynne out-pitched Luke Sommer and a sac fly by Dominik Wulf made the difference for Solingen. In the decisive match one day later Chris Mezger rebounded from a terrible outing in game two and held Heidenheim to one run in nine innings. Robin Drache used a rare mistake of Tyler Lockwood for a two-run home run in the fifth to give Mezger the necessary run support.
During the medal ceremony Sascha Lutz received the trophy for the best batter, Lockwood for the best pitcher. Glynne, who issued two runs in 16 innings pitched during the final series, got named Most Valuable Player.
