According to a press release by the German Baseball-Bundesliga club Solingen Alligators, they will host one of the four 2010 European Cup Qualifiers from June 14th to June 19th. They are qualified due to their third-place finish in the final standings this year and thanks to the withdrawal by championship runner up Mannheim Tornados. Each winner of such a tournament will have the chance to play for a spot in the 2011 European Cups in a playoff in September.
The last time Germany hosted a European Cup tournament was in 2008, when the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg were the home team and watched the Spanish club FC Barcelona win the event. Germany also will be host for the 2010 European Championship Seniors, which will be held in Stuttgart, Heidenheim and Neuenburg. The hosts for the three other Qualifiers probably will be announced soon by the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB).
