Five days are in the books at the Softball European Cups in Legnano and Parma, Italy. The fifth day of competition at the European Champions Cup ended with a surprise, as the dominant team from FIORINI FORLI, which was undefeated this week, was upset by the DORNBIRN SHARX in the semi-finals. Stacie Townsend, who already had impressed Softball Europe this summer at the European Championship in Valencia, dazzled the bats of the Italian champion over seven innings to lead her team to a 3-1 win. FORLI however has another shot at the title game tomorrow morning against CAROUSEL BOSCO SPORT, which had eliminated host AMGA LEGNANO. At the Cupwinners Cup in Parma, TERRASVOGELS defeated SPARKS HAARLEM 4-2 in the semi-final and advanced into the championship game. HAARLEM gets another chance against JOUDRS PRAGUE. The Czech team had beaten MOSKOVIA MARINO 7-4.
