The duel for first place in the southern division of the Baseball-Bundesliga highlights the game day in Germany this weekend, as the Heidekoepfe host the Buchbinder Legionaere on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. Heidenheim needs a sweep to move into first place. Right in time for the showdown German national team infielder Andy Janzen has returned from the United States, which completes the Heidekoepfe roster.
A few spots down the order in the southern division standings, the Mannheim Tornados take on the Gauting Indians, battling for the fourth spot in the playoffs. The Indians won twice against Mannheim three weeks ago, but have lost the last four to drop back into fifth place. Additionally the Haar Disciples and the Saarlouis Hornets make-up game two from an April rainout on Saturday.
In the north the Solingen Alligators return to the stage after winning the European Cup Qualifier at home. They have to travel to Hamburg for a doubleheader with the HSV Stealers, which trail the Dortmund Wanderers in fourth place by percentage points. The Dohren Wild Farmers and the Cologne Cardinals conclude the game day in German Baseball with a make-up game on Sunday.
