In Shadow of National Tragedy, Season in Poland opens

In Shadow of National Tragedy, Season in Poland opens

by Baseball.pl

Last Saturday, all three Polish baseball leagues opened the season with three doubleheaders played in the early morning. The players were already competing at the time when the presidential plane crashed in Smolensk, Russia. Because of the tragic events, those were the only games played that weekend and the rest of the games got rescheduled.

The national mourning ends on Monday, so all the games which were supposed to be hosted on the 17th and the 18th of April were postponed to other dates. The teams will resume their on-field efforts on Saturday with the beginning of the Polish Cup (first round) and the league play will go on from Sunday.

Results:
Extraleague
Dęby Osielsko – Gepardy Żory 13-2, 18-7

1st League
Schaby Warszawa – Baza Bydgoszcz 0-10, 9-4

2nd League
Stal Kutno II – Pasikoniki Warszawa 25-8, 18-12
