Just a couple of days prior to the end of Spring Training the Seattle Mariners have released left-handed pitcher Scott Ronnenbergh. The 22-year-old from Amsterdam played in a total of 53 games in affiliated Minor League ball for the Mariners organization. He had an ERA of 5.38 with 74 strikeouts and 62 walks in 90 1/3 innings.
Better news for Lars Huijer. The 20-year-old right-hander, who is also playing in the Seattle based organization, got honored as Everett Aqua Sox Pitcher of the Year according to Honkbalsite.com. With the Single-A affiliate he had an ERA of 3.03 in 14 games. He struck out 61 and walked 23 in 71 1/3 innings.
