No, the winner will be champion of the World Baseball Classic tournament.
To imply the winner of this tournament is, somehow, equal to or superior to the World Series champion is utter foolishness.
A world champion is being determined in a tournament of national teams. The world governing body WBSC awarded the world championship rights to WBC, Inc. Major League Baseball – while being the best league in the world with the best players – is still “only” a league with teams located in the US and Canada, which compete for the World Series champion. Even though sometimes people mistakenly talk about the World Series champion being the world champion, the World Series champion is not the world champion. MLB and the Baseball World Cup or now the World Baseball Classic are two completely different competitions with different teams. Therefore obviously its foolish to compare the World Series champion to the World Champion.
