After getting no-hit by Lincoln Mikkelsen on Thursday in the opener, the RANGERS offense started stronger and scored two runs in the top of the first through a RBI-single by Johnny Carvajal and a double play grounder by Lizahio Baez. But it was the last time that they put runs on the board. GROSSETO overcame the deficit in the bottom of the fifth through three runs to take a 4-1 lead. They added three more in the eighth to stop all thoughts on a rally by REDIPUGLIA. Jorge Nunez, Raul Marval and Andrea Sgnaolin each drove in two. Davide Dallospedale reached four times, scored twice and had a RBI.
Luca Panerati, who will pitch for the CINCINNATI REDS organization this summer, started for MONTEPASCHI. He allowed five hits and two runs in four innings, striking out four. Chris Cooper received the win in his IBL-debut with three four-hit innings of relief. Leonardo D’Amico got the save.

Juan Figueroa (W 1-0) and Brian Looney (S 1) combined for a six-hit shutout and SAN MARINO got off to a good start into the new season. Last year’s dominator Jesus Matos (L 0-1) matched Figueroa with zeros over the first four periods, but the game went away from him in the fifth. He allowed eight hits, four runs and two walks in 5 1/3 innings. By his standards an awful start.
Max Di Biase (picture) hit a solo homerun and drove in two. Seth La Fera scored twice and had two RBIs. Martin Vasquez had three hits in five at-bats with a RBI. Lino Connell was two-for-three and reached three times for FORTITUDO.

After their ten-inning affair on opening night, CARIPARMA and RIMINI were involved in another thriller. PARMA scored fast and often and led 6-0 after seven innings. However they needed two insurance runs in the top of the ninth to seal the victory, as TELEMARKET rallied in the last two frames for seven runs. They had the chance to tie the game at the end of regulation, but Luigi Carrozza and Claudio Signorini struck out with runners on first and second.
Leonardo Zileri hit a two-run homerun for CARIPARMA. Adolfo Gomez was four-for-six with two runs scored. Pascual Matos drove in two. Amaury Garcia had two hits in three RBI for RIMINI. Filippo Crociati had three hits and reached in all four plate appearances.
Michael Jared Natale (W 1-0) struck out eight in seven four-hit innings, while walking two. Mattia Salsi nearly blew the lead, giving up seven runs on nine hits. Leonardo Zileri stopped the comeback by TELEMARKET.

The score indicates a dominating victory for NETTUNO in their season opener on the road. However they needed until the eighth to bring runs on the board. They scored all twelve runs in the last two periods and crushed DE ANGELIS 12-2.
Guiseppe Mazzanti (3-5, 2 Runs, 3 RBI) hit a homerun. Ramon Tavarez drove in two. Carlos Duran was three-for-five with a walk, two runs scored and a RBI.
GODO dismissed the shutout try with two runs through Federico Rubboli and Manuel Marussich in the bottom of the ninth. But the deficit was too big to even think of a rally.
Nelson Cruz got the start for DANESI. He impressed with four two-hit-innings, striking out five. Frailyn Florian replaced him and closed out the game with five solid innings for the win.
Ryan Baerlocher nearly matched the performance by Cruz and countered with four innings, in which he allowed two hits and three walks. Daniele Del Bianco was charged with seven runs on twelve hits to take the loss.
