Horacio Estrada, Juan Figueroa and Brian Looney combined to throw a four-hit shutout against GROSSETO on Friday and led SAN MARINO into the Italian Series with a 1-0 victory. A sac fly by Seth La Fera in the sixth accounted for the only run on the evening. James Buccheri had led off the inning with a triple.
Estrada started and allowed three hits and two walks in 3 2/3 innings. Figueroa replaced him with two outs and Kelly Ramos on third in the fourth and induced a fly out to Andrea Sgnaolin to keep the board clean. He picked up the win for 3 2/3 innings of relief. Looney closed it for the save.
Lincoln Mikkelsen took the hard-luck loss, giving up one run on four hits and two base on balls in eight innings. Once again he didn’t receive any run support, which led to the end of the season for the team after Saturday’s game.
