After Baseball-Deutschland.de broke the news on Tuesday evening, the Saarlouis Hornets officially announced their withdrawal from the German Baseball-Bundesliga one day later. They cite financial problems as main reason for relegating voluntarily. They are going to try to rebuild in the third division in German Baseball. The Hornets concluded the 2010 season in fifth place in the southern division with a 19-21 record, their second-best finish in ten years Baseball-Bundesliga. The club already had faced financial difficulties last winter. With that step there will be most likely just seven teams in the southern division next year.
