Russia gets 11th place by beating Austria with 7-2
Russia beat Austria by 7-2 on a strong pitching performance by Alexander SISYUK who pitched 5 innings with 0 ER, 1 R, giving up only 2 H while striking out 7 and walking 2.
Austrian pitching was in trouble right from the start and could not find a way to shut down the Russian batters completely. Starting pitcher KOPPENSTEINER left after only 1 inning of work followed by Werner HARRASER who did better but still gave up too many runs (5 IP, 7 H, 5 ER, 5 R, 6 SO, 3 BB).
Russia finishes the tournament in 11th place while Austria (in their first A-Pool Tournament) ends up in last place.
