From the BBC GROSSETO website we picked up some rumors regarding the transfer market in the Italian Baseball League.
T&A San Marino: The Italian champion is probably losing Mattew Marrone after one year. The contract rights are with the second division club AVIGLIANA, who lend Marrone in 2008. He appeared in twelve games (seven starts), posting a 2-3 record with an ERA of 5.72. He struck out 27 (12 walks) in 39 1/3 innings. The future of Francisco Imperiali (OBP .343, SLG .359, 23 runs, 3 hr, 14 RBI), Pedro Orta (20 IP, ERA 1.80, 20 SO, 6 BB) and Peter Nyari (18.2 IP, ERA 3.38, 22 SO, 13 BB) is also uncertain.
Cariparma: After missing the playoffs, PARMA wants to bring back outfielder Laidel Chapelli, who left the club last winter. They are also interested in infielder Johnny Carvajal of the relegated RANGERS REDIPUGLIA. The former Spanish Division de Honor standout was second in the league with nine homeruns and a slugging percentage of .582, behind only Richard Austin of BOLOGNA. Carvajal batted .329 (OBP .392) with 20 extra base hits, 27 runs scored and 22 RBI in 2008.
Reggio Emilia: The new club in the 2009 field of the Italian Baseball League does have an interest in Livinsto Santaniello of the Serie A2 club LIVORNO (second division in Italian Baseball). He batted .287 (OBP .396/SLG .328) with 24 runs scored and eleven RBIs for the 15-21 team, which finished seventh in the same division, where REGGIO EMILIA took first place with a 28-8 record.
