Italian Baseball League
The face of the Italian Baseball League could change again for the 2012 season. According to a report by In Libera Uscita the teams from Grosseto and Godo-Verona continue to battle financial problems, which eventually could lead to withdrawals. As eventual replacements the article cites a return of the Catania franchise and a team from Rome.
Danesi Nettuno/Fortitudo Bologna/Telemarket Rimini
Besides the acquisition of Ricardo Hernandez from the FC Barcelona, the reigning vice champion Danesi Nettuno also is interested in Riccardo De Santis, Yovany D’Amico (both Grosseto), Juan Pablo Angrisano and Joe Mazzuca (both Bologna). They also try to be in the race for Andrea Pizziconi, who was released by the Kansas City Royals. Nettuno wants to extend the contract for shortstop Olmo Rosario Perez, who is currently suspended for a doping violation. Mazzuca however is also pursued by Telemarket Rimini. And of course Fortitudo Bologna is interested in keeping Angrisano and Mazzuca. Jesus Matos, Victor Moreno and Mark Castellitto seem to return to Bologna. Carlos Pezzullo could strengthen the bullpen of Rimini next year.
