Rouen wins sixth straight against Clermont-Ferrand

The HUSKIES extended their winning streak in the Elite League in France with two victories against the ARVERNES to six games. In the first match they scored in four of the first five periods to take an early 9-2 lead en route to a 10-6 win. Mathieu Crescent pitched six innings for the “W”, allowing six hits, four runs (1 ER) and four walks. Luc Piquet closed it out for the save. Yoann Bernard took the loss. He gave up eleven hits, nine runs (7 ER) and five base on balls in five innings. Randy Perez had two hits, including a homerun. Jordan Bert had three hits in five at bats.

The second part of the doubleheader saw a lopsided 15-0 shutout for ROUEN. Giovanni Ouin gave up just three hits and four walks in six scoreless innings, striking out five. He got early run support, as the offense stormed out of the gates with seven runs in the first two frames and 13 in the first four. Doug Grant was hit hard, getting charged with 13 hits, 13 runs (10 ER) and four bb in four innings. Boris Marche and Randy Perez each went four-for-five. Mathieu Crescent and Jordan Bert hit triples.

La Guerche Hawks – Savigny Lions 5-4, 5-11

The HAWKS stay in the race for the fourth playoff spot after a split against third-ranked SAVIGNY, although their chances are more mathematical nature. In game one Anthony Piquet out-dueled Carlos Jiminian on the mound for the win. LA GUERCHE overcame an early 0-3 deficit to win 5-4.

In the second match the LIONS used a seven-run inning to turn a three-run deficit into a lead and an 11-5 victory. The win was highlighted by a Jiminian homerun. Mathieu Beauchamp took the loss. Laurent Perriguey (GUE) finished the day with three hits in seven at bats.

Paris University Club – Montpellier Barracudas 2-15, 3-15 (7)

The BARRACUDAS celebrated two lopsided wins in PARIS and stopped their losing streak. Their playoff hopes remain alive, staying just percentage points behind TOULOUSE in the standings. Gregoire Maurette and Nathan French each went the distance with French also impressing at the plate.

Templiers Senart – Stade Toulouse 5-0, 9-3

The TEMPLIERS extended their winning streak to 18 games with two wins against TOULOUSE, which gets under pressure to drop out of the top four positions in the standings.
