The Rouen Huskies have won the Challenge de France 2016. The reigning French Division I champion held off the Templiers Senart 5-2 in the final on Sunday in Senart. With the victory Rouen already has booked a ticked to the European Cups in 2017.
In the title game pitched dominated throughout the first six innings with Rouen taking a 1-0 lead in the fourth on a sac fly by Larry Infante. However Senart came back in the seventh with a sac fly by Florian Peyrichou and a run by Maxwell MacNabb on a passed ball to get ahead 2-1. However Jonathan Jaspe cleared the bases with a three-run double in the top of the eighth to get the lead back for the Huskies. A RBI single by Maxime Lefevre in the ninth put the final stamp on the win.
Both teams reached the final undefeated. In the semifinals Rouen shut out Montpellier 2-0 and Senart defeated Stade Toulousain 6-0.
