Baseball.it has dig out an interesting story from the early 1990ies in Italian Baseball. Ron Washington, the current manager of the Texas Rangers, was on the verge of joining the team from Milan in the Serie A with manager Mauro Mazzotti. The then 37-year-old Washington already had agreed to play with only the signature missing under the contract. But the opportunity to play Triple-A for the Rangers came and Milan had to look elsewhere. They found Jim Morrison as replacement, who didn’t disappoint with a batting average of .390 and 12 homeruns.
