RIMINI and PARMA each won their games on Friday in Bologna and Grosseto to even out the best-of-three series in the second phase of the Coppa Italia.

An impressive complete game shutout by Roberto Corradini and a RBI single by Marco Vasini in the seventh led to a 1-0 victory of PARMA against GROSSETO. Corradini allowed eight hits and two walks in nine innings, pitching in and out of jams through the match. He threw 127 pitches, 83 for strikes. He struck out three. MONTEPASCHI had runners on base in eight of the nine frames, but failed to bring them home. Davide Dallospedale went four-for-four.
CARIPARMA also didn’t shine on the offensive side, but came through in the seventh. Claudio Biagini reached with a one-out double, advanced to third on a single by Alessandro Fanfoni and scored through Vasini’s single to left field.
Emiliano Ginanneschi started for GROSSETO and gave up two hits and two walks in 6 1/3 innings. Lorenzo Avagnina relieved him in the seventh and took the loss, allowing three consecutive hits, before settling in.

RIMINI tied the series against BOLOGNA with a 3-1 victory on Friday. Mattia Campanini and Filippo Crociati drove in the winning runs with RBI singles in the top of the ninth to break up the 1-1 tie. UNIPOL BANCA had taken a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a sac fly by Juan Angrisano. But TELEMARKET came back and evened the score in the top of the second through Melvin Natera’s solo homerun.
Sandy Patrone (RIM) allowed four hits, a run and three bb in 6 2/3 innings. Fabio Betto (BOL) opposed him and was responsible for five hits, a run and a walk in seven innings. Michele Quattrini picked up the win, Alfredo Lopez took the loss.
