Rick van den Hurk: Right-hander Rick van den Hurk made his 2010 Spring Training debut on Thursday against the Nationals. He pitched two scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit and a walk, while striking out two. 20 of his 35 pitches were strikes.
Shairon Martis, Roger Bernadina: After pitching a flawless third inning in relief for the Nationals, Shairon Martis got crushed in the fourth. He gave up six runs on six hits including a solo homerun to Hunter Pence, while getting just one more out. The Astros scored three more times in the frame en route to a 15-5 win. Roger Bernadina started in left field for Washington and went 1-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored. He also threw out Jason Castro at the plate.
Gregory Halman: Outfielder Gregory Halman replaced Michael Saunders in center field, going 0-for-2 with a strikeout. The Mariners won the game against the Padres by a score of 9-3.
