The 19-year-old right-handed pitcher/third baseman Markus Solbach will stay with the Pulheim Gophers as announced by the club on Sunday evening. He apparently had offers from other German Baseball-Bundesliga teams but decided against leaving. He had a 5-8 record with an ERA of 3.78 in 14 starts during the regular season last year. He struck out 58 batters in 100 innings, while walking 42. He is currently playing for the Mulgrave Rebels in Australia, where he has an ERA of 2.55 in 24 2/3 innings. He has struck out 30 and walked eleven so far. He is expected back by the end of February.
