The Dutch national team improved to 3-0 on the second day of the World Cup of Softball in Oklahoma City. After defeating Canada on Thursday they also prevailed in both ends of their doubleheader on Friday.
In the morning the Netherlands edged out Brazil 4-3. They scored all four runs in the top of the sixth. Nathalie Timmermans doubled twice and drove in two during the decisive rally. Britta Vonk had three hits for the Dutch. Lindsey Meadows struck out seven in five-plus innings for the win.
In the afternoon they had no trouble to beat Puerto Rico 7-2. Karin Tuk was the offensive star this time, going 3-for-4 with a homerun and four RBI. Vonk and Virginie Anneveld each scored twice. Femke van Dusschoten went the distance for the win.
