The 2012 World Cup of Softball got underway on Thursday in Oklahoma City. Team USA, Brazil, Australia, Canada, Puerto Rico and from Europe the Netherlands are taking part in the invitational event. Four games were played on the first day with the Dutch team capturing their first victory. They defeated Canada 7-6 thanks to a seventh-inning run on an error. Virginie Anneveld went 3-for-4 with two runs scored to spark the offense. Dagmar Bloeming picked up the win, pitching 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
