LEKSAND trailed third-ranked SUNDBYBERG by two games going into the last weekend of the top-six round of the regular season in the Swedish Elitserien. But the LUMBERJACKS took game one with a 5-4 win in ten innings and completed the sweep with a 6-3 victory in the second part of the doubleheader. They climbed to fourth in the standing, clinching a spot in the semi-finals and sending the HEAT packing. SUNDBYBERG had lost the last six games of the season, while LEKSAND won five in a row.
RÄTTVIK couldn’t match the feat of LEKSAND, as they lost both games against the BATS. In game one KARLSKOGA prevailed 6-2, in the second 14-4. TRANAS secured first seed with a sweep over STOCKHOLM. A strong pitching effort in game one, followed a close win in a slugfest in game two.
The semi-finals will be played next weekend in a best-of-three format at the home sites of the higher seeds TRANAS and STOCKHOLM.
