Almost equal in strength the teams showed a beautiful game in the opening match of the Championship of Moldova 2009. In frame one YASTREBY went ahead with a pair of runs. Vlad Beltsik hit two homeruns in the game. Nevertheless, YASTREBY lost in the end, committing a few mistakes in defense so BIVOL won over last year’s vice-champion by a score of 14-9.
PIRATES – ABATOR 19 – 20
During the first five innings the score was even. The game was highlighted by a large number of hits. Much of this was due to the weak form of the pitchers after the winter break. In the ninth inning the PIRATES took a two-run lead, but ABATOR answered in the bottom of the frame with a three-run homerun by first baseman Andrei Andreev to win this game.
The next games will be played on May 3. (two-week break is related to national holidays) Games will be held in Chisinau, stadium on str. Ginta Latina.
