The French Division I played its second game day on Sunday. In the most anticipated matchup this weekend, reigning champion Rouen Huskies defeated Paris UC twice. In game one Rouen sent Seattle Mariners minor leaguer Alexandre Roy (pitched for two innings due to pitch count restrictions) to the mound against James Murrey’s Paris. The Huskies prevailed 12-4, blowing a close game open with five runs in the last two frames. Maxime Lefevre scored a couple of runs.
In game two Rouen overcame an early 0-3 deficit (Paris scored three times in the second) to win 4-3. Chris Goniot scored the winning run in the seventh after leading off the frame with a double and coming around on thanks to plate work by Oscar Combes and Gleeson. PUC had scored on hits by Saaverda, Trinidad and Sanders.
In the other matchups this weekend the Beaucaire Chevalies split a doubleheader against the Toulouse Academy, the Templiers Senart swept the Savigny Lions and the Montpellier Barracudas win twice over the Toulouse Tigers.
