The Dutch Hoofdklasse opened the 2010 season this weekend. While on Saturday the favored teams DOOR Neptunus, Konica Minolta Pioniers, L&D Amsterdam and Corendon Kinheim all picked up victories, the Sunday brought some surprises.
Mitchell Graham led the promoted Almere Magpies to a 5-4 win over Kinheim with a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth. Corendon had just erased a 2-4 deficit in the top half of the frame. Another upset victory was witnessed in Hoofddorp as Mr. Cocker HCAW scored two runs in the top of the ninth to take home a 2-1 win against the Pioniers. Randy Daal with a solo homerun and Bart Gabriels with a RBI single put the tying and go-ahead runs on the board.
