The Czech Extraleague started into the 2009 season on Saturday with eight games. Only defending champion AVG DRACI BRNO was able to win both games against the ARROWS OSTRAVA. The promoted club PATRIOTS LIBEREC debuted with a 18-4 victory in Prague and settled with a split against the TEMPO TITANS on opening day.
