Officially the regular season in the German Baseball-Bundesliga is over. However actually there are still a bunch of games to play due to a few rainouts. This weekend in the North Conference, the race for the playoffs got dramatic for the BONN CAPITALS. They are still in fourth place. But they lost one of two at the HSV STEALERS to move their record to 14-13 with one game left against the leaders from SOLINGEN. Fifth-ranked DORTMUND WANDERERS got back to .500 (14-14) with a sweep versus the NIGHTMARES. If these both clubs are tied in the standings, they will move into fourth, as they won the season series. BONN now has to hope for a victory against the ALLIGATORS next week or that COLOGNE, which lost twice to PADERBORN today, loses all three of their remaining games.
In the South the MAINZ ATHLTICS clinched their spot in the playoffs with two wins against the SAARLOUIS HORNETS. The two scheduled doubleheader on Sunday were rained out.
