There will be no reformation of the German Baseball-Bundesliga. A few days before the general meeting of all German clubs in Frankfurt last Saturday, the competition commission of the German Baseball and Softball Federation (DBV) denied the motion for a reduction of the 1. Baseball-Bundesliga from now 16 to 12 teams following the 2011 season. They decided after receiving mostly negative feedback in a survey of all clubs and regional federations.
This led to major and according to reports heated discussions in Frankfurt on Saturday. However without bringing different reformation plans into action. So the format in the coming years will stay the same, although there will be only seven teams in the southern division following the withdrawal of the Saarlouis Hornets due to financial reasons. One change will be made for the 2012 season, as an all-star game will return to the calendar.
