UVV edged out Mr. Cocker HCAW 2-1 on Saturday afternoon in the Dutch Hoofdklasse. RBI singles by Fausto Alvarez and Jirka Bliek plated the two decisive runs in the first and fourth. Mr. Cocker avoided the shutout with a RBI single by in the fifth. Otherwise pitching ruled the day. Orlando Yntema (W) struck out ten batters in seven strong innings. He allowed four hits, an unearned run and four bb. Kevin Miner (L) was charged with seven hits, two runs (1 ER) and two bb in eight innings.
Sparta/Feyenoord Rotterdam – ADO 11-6

Sparta/Feyenoord Rotterdam used a six-run second and a five-run fifth to beat ADO 11-6. The club from The Hagues scored five of their six runs in the last three frames. Quintin De Cuba drove in four. Rensver Jansen went 3-for-5 with a run and a RBI. Bobby Carrington (W) allowed eight hits and two runs in seven innings. He struck out six. Quincy Lambertina (L) conceded four hits, nine runs and eight bb in 4 1/3 frames. Gyenuar Lopez drove in two for ADO.

The Vaessen Pioniers celebrated a lopsided 11-0 shutout over Corendon Kinheim at Pim Mulier Stadium in Haarlem on Saturday. They broke the tie with a big seven-run rally in the seventh. They added four more insurance runs to turn a pitcher’s duel into a blowout. Eddie Aucoin (W) issued just one hit and a walk in 7 1/3 scoreless innings, striking out nine. He didn’t allow a base runner until the fourth and had a no-hitter going until a leadoff double in the sixth. Kinheim’s starter Duko Jansen (L) even had the no-no going after six. But things fell apart in the seventh and Jansen took the loss following a hit, four runs (3 ER) and two bb in six-plus innings. Kevin Dirksen and Zerzinho Croes combined for five hits and four RBI.
